as we celebrate the life and spirit of martin luther king jr. we honor a man whose heart, words, actions and intentions were aligned with a deep love for humanity - a man whose voice carries across time and space.

i feel him here with us today and everyday, during a time of unknowing and challenge, reminding us that we are more.

• we are more than our failures, though they may feel hard to forgive.

• we are more than the stuff we have, though it engages us with glitter.

• we are more than our mind wanting to be right and all the stories that it wants to affix onto humanity, for we are limitless.

• we are more than our fear of what lies beyond, for we are love and compassion.

we are human beings challenged by hope and anchored by faith - curious, ever evolving, transformative and divine!

and it is in our struggle that we find our faith ... in the cold that we find warmth ... in the troubles that we find value.

which brings me to the challenge. what would life be if not for the challenge? flat. colorless. predictable and stagnant.

i challenge every human being, regardless of race, color, creed, gender, or who you love -- to let go of the fear of being wrong - to let go of the fear of not being enough - so that you can take a chance on US!
