love and the human revolution

love and the human revolution.jpg

i hear the sound of drums – together they form a singular heartbeat. it enters through my ears and pulses up through my feet. it is anchored to my very core.

it is the sound of the human revolution – the inner transformation that changes our circumstances — affects our world. it is swift and it begins within, inside our selves in a space that is infinite. its conductor is awareness and its instrument is love.

love.

i have a deep appreciation of language, words in particular – how they are smyth-sewn by history and evolution, brought together by the experiences of life – how they are used by the mind as tools for binding and how they spill effortlessly from the soul. i’m sure this homage is something ancient, carried forward by a mix of genetics and karma – – a propelled destiny forged by the cosmic and the divine.

like books, these layers of meaning are bound together when it comes to love, for love is not just a word – love is an agreement of many things: characters and plot, chapters of emotions and chemical prologue. love is a colophon of the human spirit.

to have love.

the greeks had a very complex vocabulary to describe the dimensions of love, six words in all: there was eros, sexual and passionate; philia, honorable and loyal; storge, familial and protective; agape, selfless, free flowing and radical. pragma, patient, compromising and enduring; and, philautia, self-love.

what the greeks understood was that love was ascending and transcending – awakened in the body, directed by the mind and distilled through the heart. they knew that for love to be powerful, long-lasting and beneficial, it needed to be sequential and relational — eros was no longer dangerous if it followed agape, pragma was built on philia and all were super sized by the love for one’s self.

where does love fit into the equation of the human revolution?

love is the wisdom that shows us the way – it is dignity and carries a sense of inner liberation – and, in the face of a cruel reality, love enables us to be present, to rise to our greatest personal growth. this is the core of the human revolution – the ascension that is rooted in love that sees the beauty in our fundamental humanity — we are hardwired for love, baby!

to be love,

looks beyond our personal motivation, taking action for the wellbeing of others. and, when enough of us begin, we can create a force – a movement – a vibration that is strengthened and accelerated, recognizing that we are held by a universal heart.

we can see and hear and feel the unjust in society and that becomes essential to accessing the purpose of our lives because, without love and compassion, humanity cannot survive.

to begin to love,

we start here, inside, within ourselves – in self-love – within inner transformation – within reflection and the ripples of action!

let us cultivate the intrinsic power of love –

the passion and desire to move forward

the loyalty and respect of the fellowship of humans

the laughter and lightness of being

universal loving kindness

the compromise and patience of relationships – brothers and sisters at the core of compassion.

one drum!  one heart!

the time has come to change our story – to awaken – and to live in our fullest expression –  to live our most positive potential – to  “join the chorus – the grand opera.”

be love, be strong and keep moving on…
